“Grandfather’s Barn in the Appalachians”... I knew it was still there, and even though it had seen its better days, my heart was filled with joy when I saw the old barn still standing in the hollow. Oh, the memories it brought back from growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of Northeast Tennessee!

When I ran across the original photo recently, I was filled with warmth and nostalgia. Captured in this precious moment is a little flower girl, a vision of innocence and purity, with soft curls framing her angelic face, and bright blue eyes radiating with wonder and curiosity. This digital artwork originates from a photograph from within my personal archive of historical images. It was processed in Ai and largely remastered in traditional editing software.

Thank you for the second place votes of my "Egret Elegance" by Patti Deters. A Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens) stands tall and graceful in still ocean waters, its reflection glimmering in the pastel shades of the sunset. The sky transitions smoothly from coral peach to light blue, creating a serene coastal backdrop for this elegant waterbird. Reddish Egrets are smaller than a great egret or great blue heron, and males and females look very similar. These water birds are part of the heron family and are considered somewhat rare. In fact there less than 300 pairs to be found in Florida, with numbers declining annually. This particular bird was photographed in the Everglades National Park, Florida, USA. The digital background is representative of a sunset or sunrise in the flatlands of Florida. Thank you for viewing this picture.
